About
Jenny Hite
Farmer / Florist
Finding my place in this world has been a journey. I am a former nurse, Army-wife, and mama of three. I am also a Carhartt-wearin’, dirt-diggin’, lover of all things green and growing. I’m my happiest self when I’m planting seeds and making the world a more beautiful place.
The beginning of Walker Town Farm was nothing fancy. After my husband, Wes, retired from active-duty Army service in 2010, we moved our family back home to North Carolina and the mountains we had always dreamed of calling home. We settled in Black Mountain in hopes of finding community and making a home for ourselves in this little valley. We bought our house and the lot adjacent with a homestead in mind, and over the years we taught ourselves the ins and outs of raising chickens, keeping bees, and growing lots of veggies. Along with my vegetable garden, I began growing a small patch of zinnias each year in order to have some cut flowers for my kitchen table. Every year the flower patch got a little bigger, and before I knew it, I was sharing jars of flowers with friends and neighbors.
Walker Town Farm was born out of my desire to share beauty and bring joy to the community that my family and I love so dearly. When the birds are singing and my hands are covered in dirt, I find my purpose. It is a great privilege for us to share the beauty of mountain-grown flowers with you!
